"You can never go home again."

It’s a truism that people who have lived abroad for a long time return to find that both they and their home countries have changed. When I moved back to the United States after 20 years in Europe, I experienced impatience, frustration, a sense of loss, but also wonder, affection, and sometimes even relief. I also discovered a new perspective on everything from business to social issues, parenting to urban planning, which comes out in discussions with new and old friends on both sides of the Atlantic.

The blogosphere is full of the adventures and musings of expatriates in different situations, but what about repatriates like me? I started this blog as a forum for the unique insights and experiences of “repats.”
